Valentine’s Day Weekly Creative Round Up

Last week was my first rendition of my Weekly Creative Work Round Up, where I combine everyday creative endeavors, ‘fit pics, and other aspects of art/writing/life balance to discuss ways in which I’ve worked to strengthen my creative muscles through the week.

Blog Posts

Fewer than past weeks. I did manage to post about my free closet makeover and explored if you should read your teen’s text messages.

Kid Stuff

Lots of this!

DIY Valentine Holders

I was in charge of the class craft this week, so I made up a demo Valentines Holder

…and prepped the supplies for 17 others for the kids to make and design

Their cute little designs!

Homemade Valentines

My oldest and I made homemade valentines from preschool through fifth grade & my youngest and I are following through with the same tradition. This year he wanted to do Spider-Man.

They came out really cute!

Snow day

The boys made a snowman. I helped with the base and I found the sticks for the arms. I won’t take responsibility for the way the design evolved.

Oh, boys.

Kindergartener Art Prompt

The little one made a couple characters by cutting a sheet of paper then adding marker details and told me to do the same. I didn’t finish, but it wasn’t nothing!

I was inspired by Ganesh

Fashion Fun

Can you tell I like Valentine’s Day? Here’s how I styled my many thrift finds for the holiday.

This is what I wore to my kid’s Valentine’s Day performance and class party
…but I preferred more of a business-thot vibe for the rest of the holiday
Casual look for The Bruce art museum and snowy playground sesh with the kids on their Friday off
Funky look for out in the city on Saturday—that faux fur by Cynthia Rowley was only $22 bucks at goodwill!

Art

Not a lot to say here. I did view art, both at The Bruce

Anila Quayyum Agha: Dualities at the Bruce

And throughout the streets of the City over the weekend

Let the Sky Know, installation by Ana María Hernando at Madison Square Park

Blocks

There was a snow day (Tuesday) and a day off for President’s Day weekend (Friday) + Valentine’s Day (Wednesday), + much of Monday was dedicated to preparing for and hosting the classroom craft. We were in the city all weekend. BU-SY. And overstimulated. When I had a moment to myself, I chose to stick my nose in a book.

Pivots

  • I did accomplish a pivot I discussed last week: earlier bedtimes! ✔️
  • Scheduling time to write early on in the day, every day
  • More meditation time

Whether time, resources, or executive function are to blame, when you have many things you want to do yet haven’t taken the time to prioritize any of them, it places you in a freeze mode—you don’t do a damn thing. This week’s Weekly Creative Work Roundup of everyday creative projects will focus more on creative blocks than last week’s creative roundup post. […]
