The Game of Life

I’ve been kind of awful at blogging lately.

My husband has been out of town on business five days a week for the last six or so, I was committing the majority of my time to getting my house in order. To keep myself occupied with a deadline and motivation, I sent out invitations to fifteen of my closest friends for a brunch.

Project after project, deep cleaning and knee deep in laundry, the act became really gratifying to me: I was creating my dream home, I was creating a solid foundation on which to grow calmer and more systematic.  I was doing gratifying work that was investing in my future quality of life. It didn’t feel like menial tasks; felt good.

Then, after picking up The Game of Life from Target and a quick round with Tobias before bedtime, a phone call from my husband showed me how a sudden “spin” on life can take my whole game for a whirlwind.

I can’t go into details–which REALLY drives me nuts, because I thought the elopement was going to be the last secret I had to keep. But I’ve got a few people to address and tasks to tackle before I can go shouting it from the rooftops. Let’s just say personalizing my home isn’t currently a good use of my time. I’ve begun to focus on other things.

Which is good timing because six days from today we’ll be on a jet plane headed for ASIA! and there’s plenty on my plate. Stay tuned, I can’t wait to share my travels and my news.
