Today I head over to Mathews Park in Norwalk to set up for my first two day juried art fair. Read my post about my first Art in the Park in Binney Park.
I noticed some time ago that my favorite paintings are those that represent a deep yearning. A notable example of this is my painting, Made in the Shade, from when I was still working up the nerve to paint en plein air.

That was what fueled me to create the painting Memorial Day on Main Street–yearning to pursue the opportunity to sell my work at art fairs. The reference photo was from a Westport Fine Arts Festival and the empty chair is emphasized to anticipate my arrival as a participant.

I shared this as one example of my work in my application for the Norwalk Arts Festival 2026 and Stamford Art Festival, and was so pleased when I was accepted!
I was just as pleased this week when I discovered that the marketing materials created for the event by the organizers included this painting! This invitation has been spread throughout social media and distributed through email to all participants. What a treat!

This week I’ve been hammering away at creating new art (4 1/2 paintings!!) and framing older art in preparation for the event. There will be live music and activities for children.
From the Gordon Fine Arts website:
There is are many special events for children and adults through the weekend long event. Jerry’s Artarama and the Norwalk Arts Commission host a free hands-on art experience at the Children’s Art Workshop area. There is a community mural project and plenty of art supplies to inspire artists of all ages. Bring your talents and enjoy.
The Norwalk Art Festival features the creative works of over 75 juried artists from local to national talent. They will exhibit a wide variety of media including, photography, drawing, ceramics, jewelry, painting, mixed media, printmaking, fiber, metal sculpture and glass.
All of the works exhibited are for sale and original artwork is made available in a wide variety of price ranges. There is something for every taste and budget at this beautiful annual arts event.
Hope to see you there!
