is it weird to have a blog in 2024?
I’ve had this domain name for about a decade but I didn’t have the good habits, self esteem, organization or consistency required to post on a regular basis until now. The strange thing is, blogging may seem out of date to many. The popular DIY bloggers that inspired me a decade ago have switched directions.… Continue reading

Community is the Antidote to Anxiety
Several years ago, new to Connecticut, I spoke about my crippling social anxiety. Those who encounter me now would be astonished to learn this. I’m the one chatting up anyone and everyone in line at the grocery store. The one with the best energy, giving compliments left and right, making someone’s day with a quick… Continue reading

The Fruits of Your Labor
“You are always getting paid, and you are always getting paid in the currency you are asking for. So maybe the currency you’re asking for is likes on Facebook, or maybe the currency you’re asking for is a lot of compliments from your friends, or maybe the currency you’re asking for is neglect. You know,… Continue reading

DIY Family Costume: Alien Abduction
What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite? Halloween, hands down. My most popular blog posts are my DIY family costumes, like lifecycle of a butterfly, deep sea creatures, and Elvis jumpsuit costume. A picture from my Hamilton family costume post is going to be published in a textbook in Africa(!!!). I even… Continue reading

Camping Shenandoah National Park
Have you ever been camping? Yes! I never went camping with my family as a child. My first time was when I was a few days shy of 18. My friends and days-old boyfriend, who would later become my first husband, road-tripped from home in Houston to San Marcos, Texas. We stayed in tents, floated… Continue reading

Productivity Hack: Pavlov’s Playlist
When do you feel most productive? I feel most productive after when I’ve been creating art or DIY projects or my magic morning routine, but I can boost my productivity when I’m feeling low energy with a little hack. Continue reading

Ms.Frizzle-meets-Art-Hoe aesthetic
What are your favorite emojis? 🙃🙈🫣 Are some of my most frequently used emojis. I don’t text or use social media like Instagram and I try to convey emotion through words, so I’m not on that alternate keyboard often. All three of these emojis represent a kind of silly embarrassment: “Whoops!” “I made a confession!”… Continue reading

About Me
I’m an artist. Sometimes I paint impressionist townscapes in oils, other times I sketch out what I’d rather be painting in pencil. I design intentional environments in my home, and sometimes I get around to projects that the design consists of. I flip thrifted clothes, or I let ideas pile up like used fabrics overflowing from a box in my basement. This is a metaphor, but also a fact.
I’m a writer. Sometimes that means bad poetry. I often meander in my prose, as I find it hard not to mention every detail, what something reminds me of, and all of the background information you could never want.
I’m an explorer. Sometimes I explore the great outdoors, or other countries. Other times, my nose deep in a book, I’m exploring the universal human experience, nature science, ancient wisdom and impacts of colonialism. Often, I’m exploring my own inner experience through train-of-thought journaling.
I’m restless in my curiosity and consistently creative. To an outsider, it’s clear that leading a creative life involves output: paintings, outfits, decor, a garden. The creative knows that this output requires a frequent stream and synthesis of that input. This blog is the space I use to organize and sort my meandering thoughts and pile of ideas.
